Opening our doors this September to your emergency services

On behalf of everyone at and Avon & Somerset Police and
Avon Fire & Rescue thank you to all who attended our Emergency Services Open Day this year at Police and Fire HQ. We hope that everyone had a lovely day and look forward to welcoming you back next time.

What’s it all about?

On Sunday 15th September Police and Fire Headquarters in Portishead will be hosting the annual Emergency Services Open Day.

We’ll be opening our doors to your emergency services, showcasing the work of those who serve across Avon and Somerset.

Visitors are set to enjoy an action packed day with displays from Avon and Somerset’s Police Dog, Mounted and Firearms sections, and car cutting and animal rescue demonstrations from Avon Fire and Rescue.

As well as an opportunity to demonstrate how the Emergency Services work together to keep our communities safe, it is also a chance to showcase the wide range of careers and volunteering opportunities on offer.

More than 7,500 people are expected to attend the Open Day. Last year tickets were snapped up in record time, so keep an eye on our social media for the ticket release dates.

Who will be there

This unique event will showcase the work of those who serve across Avon and Somerset.
Beyond the Constabulary and Avon Fire and Rescue Service this will include: Mountain Rescue, HM Coastguard, British Red Cross, RNLI and Wessex 4 X 4 amongst many others.

Things to bear in mind

Please be aware Police and Fire HQ in Portishead is a working site. There will be a number of displays involving emergency service vehicles, service dogs and horses, with vehicles likely to sound their sirens throughout the day. There will be a quiet space identified on the event map should you or a member of your party need some time away from the noisy environment.

Finally there will be photographers and a drone on site taking photographs of the event. Images will be used on social media, our websites and for the promotion of future events. If you would preferred not to be photographed please do let the photographer know, or Get in touch

Travelling to the event

If you are driving please follow the signs to the Open Day car park. We have two car parks, one car park is an approximately 10 minute walk along a road that will be closed to traffic and the other is adjacent to the site entrance.

We do ask that everyone attending is respectful of our neighbours and only use the car parks provided.

Disabled parking

There is limited disabled parking available on site for Blue Badge holders only. If you require a disabled space you will be able to book this once you have booked your admission tickets.
